Our Process

At Hyborn Machinery, our recycling process is designed for maximum efficiency and sustainability, ensuring the responsible recovery of valuable materials from used lithium-ion batteries. By leveraging advanced technologies and best practices, we create a seamless flow from collection to material recovery, all while prioritizing safety and environmental responsibility.

Reverse Logistics

HUB & SPOKE Model – Our flexible HUB & SPOKE model allows us to source end-of-life lithium-ion cells from virtually any geographical location (SPOKE) and transport them safely and efficiently to our manufacturing facility (HUB) for recycling.
Battery Sources – We procure used lithium-ion cells from various sources, primarily electronics, electric vehicles (EVs), and other devices, ensuring that our methods are safe, ethical, and responsible. While we currently source these cells from across India, we are open to expanding our supply chain internationally.
Battery Type – We focus on the three most common types of used lithium-ion cells: Prismatic Cells, Cylindrical Cells, and Pouch Cells, optimizing our recycling processes for each type.
Leveraging Technology – Utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Blockchain, we constantly enhance our efficiency levels while ensuring raw material quality and safety.

Segregation

Testing and Sorting – Upon arrival at our facility, each shipment of used lithium-ion cells undergo rigorous testing as the first step in our proprietary automated process. This testing checks the overall quality of the cells, their remaining charge, and their chemical composition.
Making Batches – Although our process is cell chemistry agnostic, we sort and divide the batteries based on type to maximize output efficiency.
Discharging Cells – As part of our Net Zero Waste, Zero Emissions initiative, we fully discharge all remaining energy from batteries, using this energy to power our plant.

Mechanical Process

Reusable Chemicals – The chemicals used in our proprietary hydrometallurgical processes are specifically synthesized for repeated and infinite use. After performing the extraction of rare earth metals, they return to their original state.
Rare Earth Metals – The end result of our hydrometallurgical process is high-grade salts of lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese, ready to be reintroduced into the lithium-ion cell manufacturing supply chain.

Net Zero Waste and Zero Emissions – One of the key purposes of Hyborn Machinery is to mitigate the pollution created by mining and to reduce battery waste in landfills. We have implemented all possible measures to ensure our process produces Net Zero Waste and Zero Emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future.

Chemical (Hydrometallurgical) Process

Reusable Chemicals – All the chemicals that we use in our proprietary Hydrometallurgical processes have been specifically synthesized to be used repeatedly and infinitely. After they perform the extraction of the Rare Earth metals, they return to their original state.

Rare Earth metals – The end result of our Hydrometallurgical Process are high-grade salts of Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel & Manganese, which are ready to be re-introduced into the Lithium-ion cell manufacturing supply chain.

Net Zero Waste and Zero Emissions – One of the key reasons for Hyborn Energies’ existence is to reduce the pollution that is created from mining across the world and also to reduce waste that is generated from batteries that are in landfills across the world. To that end, we have taken all possible measures to ensure that our process produces Net Zero Waste and Zero Emissions.
